Born and raised in Dublin, I graduated from the School of History at University College Dublin with a BA in 2003 and a PhD in 2007, and subsequently joined the academic staff. In August 2013, I moved to the University of Hertfordshire where I am a senior lecturer in twentieth century history. I am the author of The Cosgrave Party: a History of Cumann na nGaedheal, 1923-33 (Royal Irish Academy, 2010) and A Just Society for Ireland? 1964-87 (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013), and the co-editor of A Formative Decade: Ireland in the 1920s (Irish Academic Press, 2015). I am currently writing a new book — upon which the exhibition is based — that explores the everyday lives of Irishwomen in the 1960s.
